Engineer Principal Computational Engineer, 3D CAD & Geometric Intelligence at Xometry

Principal engineer owns the multi-year technical direction and architecture for 3D geometry, CAD processing, and AI-driven Design for Manufacturability platform, writing production C++ and Python code at scale.

Lead Posted about 12 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Xometry (NASDAQ: XMTR) powers the industries of today and tomorrow by connecting the people with big ideas to the manufacturers who can bring them to life. Xometry’s digital marketplace gives manufacturers the critical resources they need to grow their business while also making it easy for buyers at Fortune 1000 companies to tap into global manufacturing capacity.

Xometry is seeking a Principal Computational Engineer to set the multi-year technical direction for our 3D geometry and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) platform. You will be the senior individual contributor in this domain, owning the architecture that turns every customer-uploaded CAD model into a manufacturable, priced, and routed part across CNC, sheet metal, additive, injection molding, casting, and finishing processes. This role also serves as the technical architect for one of Xometry’s highest-leverage strategic initiatives: the embedded DFM AI + IQE integration with our partner. You will lead the integration of Xometry’s proprietary computational geometry and AI directly into the partner’s industrial software ecosystem — including Solid Edge, NX, Designcenter, and Teamcenter — integrated within the native DesignCenter environment to deliver real-time manufacturability feedback and pricing insights. The goal is a “science fiction speed” design-to-source digital thread from ideation to physical parts, with no export, no round-trip, and no translation loss. This is a hands-on role. You will write production C++ and Python that ships to millions of quotes per year, define the kernel and toolchain strategy, publish or patent novel methods where they create durable advantage, and raise the technical bar of the team through mentorship, design review, and hiring. The role requires demonstrated mastery of computational geometry, geometric modeling kernels, and the messy reality of consuming arbitrary customer CAD — STEP, IGES, X_T, JT, SLDPRT, CATPart, and DXF — at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Vision & Roadmap: Own and drive a multi-year technical roadmap for Xometry’s geometric reasoning stack — B-Rep ingestion and healing, feature recognition, DFM analysis, sub-process routing, geometric pricing signals, and downstream CAM/CAE integration — balancing research ambition with disciplined business value delivery.
  • Partnership Integration (DFM AI + IQE): Serve as the technical architect for the embedded DFM AI + IQE track inside the partner’s ecosystem. Lead the integration of Xometry’s geometric and AI capabilities directly into Solid Edge, NX, Designcenter, and Teamcenter, operating directly on native 3D geometry through the Parasolid kernel. Define the integration architecture, the geometry contract between the two systems, the precision and latency budgets required for in-CAD real-time feedback, and the long-term roadmap for an end-to-end digital thread from designer intent to manufactured part.
  • Geometric Kernel Architecture: Architect and personally implement the hardest components of the geometric kernel layer — robust intersection, offset, Boolean, projection, and trimming operations on NURBS curves and surfaces — plus the resilience layer that absorbs malformed CAD that arrives in the wild. Establish precision, robustness, and performance contracts (floating-point error budgets, predicate selection, tolerancing, numerical stability) that the rest of engineering builds on top of.
  • DFM & Sub-Process Intelligence: Drive the methodology for combining classical computational geometry (B-Rep traversal, parametric surface analysis, medial axis, geodesic distance, curvature analysis) with modern learning-based approaches (graph neural networks on B-Reps, point-cloud and voxel encoders, differentiable geometry, neural implicit representations) to detect manufacturability risk across 12+ CNC sub-processes and the broader process catalog.
  • Research-to-Production Translation: Translate research from computational geometry, computer-aided geometric design, and computational fabrication into shipped systems. Publish, patent, or open-source where doing so strengthens recruiting, partnerships, or the platform itself.
  • Technical Leadership & Standards: Provide technical leadership across geometry, ML, and platform teams. Lead design reviews, define the technical interview bar, and partner with engineering leadership on hiring, calibration, and IC-track career progression. Mentor Staff, Senior, and mid-level engineers.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Product, Manufacturing Engineering, Pricing, and Operations leadership to translate business outcomes (margin, lead time, yield, defect rate) into precisely specified geometric and algorithmic problems. Influence roadmaps, priorities, and resourcing across partner teams.
  • External Representation: Represent Xometry externally — conferences, standards bodies, academic collaborations, technical reviews, and customer engagements — as the recognized technical authority for our DFM and geometry platform.

What You’ll Bring to Xometry

  • Experience & Education: M.S. or PhD in applied mathematics, computer science, mechanical engineering, computational physics, or a closely related field. Typically 12+ years of progressive experience applying computational methods to geometry, CAD/CAE, or simulation problems, with a demonstrable record of shipped algorithms in commercial or production systems. PhD with 8+ years of relevant industry experience is equivalent.
  • Geometric Modeling Mastery: Deep expertise across the geometric modeling stack — analytical geometry, parametric and free-form geometry (NURBS, etc.), trimmed surfaces, B-Rep topology, geometry healing and repair, robust predicates, and high-performance spatial data structures.
  • Kernel & CAD Interoperability: Hands-on experience with one or more commercial or open geometric kernels — Parasolid, ACIS, CGM, Granite, ShapeManager, Open CASCADE / pythonOCC — including a working understanding of where each kernel fails on real-world inputs and how to compensate. Strong working knowledge of CAD interchange and translation: STEP (AP203/AP214/AP242), IGES, JT, Parasolid XT, native CATIA / NX / Creo / SolidWorks formats, DXF, and HOOPS Exchange / PRC.
  • Technical Mastery: Expert-level C++ (C++14/17/20) with modern build systems (CMake), debugging (GDB, sanitizers), profiling, and binding generation (SWIG, pybind11). Strong Python for tooling, prototyping, and ML integration. Comfort with cloud platforms (AWS) for large-scale geometry processing and model training. Experiences or exposures of using code generation tools (e.g. Claude) with geometry engines. Ability to work in a large computational geometry codebase involving C++ and Python (numpy, numba) code.
  • Mathematical Rigor: Rigorous grounding in linear algebra, multivariable and differential calculus, numerical methods, differential equations, and floating-point error analysis. Comfort with differential geometry and topology as it applies to surface and curve modeling.
  • Recognized Track Record: Demonstrable record of research-to-production translation: peer-reviewed publications, issued patents, significant open-source contributions, or shipped commercial capabilities that you can point to and explain end-to-end.
  • AI/ML Fluency: Familiarity with ML/AI methods relevant to geometry — graph neural networks on B-Reps (BRepGAT, BRepFormer, AAGNet, UV-Net), point-cloud / voxel / SDF encoders, neural implicit representations, NURBS-aware learning — and clear judgment about when classical methods beat learned ones.
  • Manufacturing Domain Fluency: Familiarity with industry standards (ISO, ASME Y14.5, GD&T) and a working command of manufacturing processes (subtractive, additive, formative, finishing) and materials science sufficient to converse credibly with senior manufacturing engineers and partner engineers.
  • Leadership: Track record of mentoring and elevating Staff- and Senior-level engineers. Able to set technical direction by influence rather than mandate, and to align executives and cross-functional partners around ambitious scientific directions.
  • ITAR Compliance: Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder (ITAR).

Qualifications

  • Partner Ecosystem Experience: Prior development experience inside the partner’s stack — Parasolid kernel programming, NX Open / NX Customization, Solid Edge API, Teamcenter integration, or Designcenter / Mendix-based workflow development.
  • Published Research: PhD with a published thesis or sustained publication record in computational geometry, geometric modeling, computer-aided geometric design (CAGD), computational fabrication, isogeometric analysis, or computational dynamics.
  • Open-Source Authorship: Authorship of, or substantial contribution to, a recognized open-source geometric modeling library, kernel, or framework (e.g., NURBS / B-spline

modeling frameworks, mesh generation toolkits, CAD interoperability libraries).

  • Industry Pedigree: Experience inside a CAD vendor, kernel vendor, simulation vendor, or vertically integrated manufacturing platform — Dassault Systèmes, PTC, Autodesk, Onshape, Shapr3D, ANSYS, Altair, Desktop Metal, Markforged, Align Technology, ConforMIS, or comparable.
  • Scale: Designed and operated geometry algorithms at large scale — cloud compute, distributed geometry processing, GPU-accelerated computational geometry, parallel meshing, or geometry serving behind a real-time API.
  • Hiring & Calibration: Experience hiring, calibrating, and growing computational-geometry talent — a domain where the global talent pool is small and the hiring bar is notoriously difficult to set.

What Success Looks Like in 12 Months

  • The Partner DFM AI + IQE integration is in production inside the partner’s ecosystem with measurable adoption, in-CAD latency contracts being met, and a clear roadmap for expanding the digital thread across additional processes and partner surfaces.
  • The geometric reasoning stack has a coherent, documented architecture with explicit precision, robustness, and latency contracts; new sub-processes and DFM rules plug in without bespoke rewrites.
  • DFM coverage spans 12+ CNC sub-processes plus the broader process catalog, with per-sub-process precision/recall measured and on a known improvement trajectory.
  • At least one piece of methodology has been published, patented, or open-sourced in a way that strengthens Xometry’s recruiting and external technical brand.
  • Two to three Staff and Senior engineers can credibly cite you as the reason they leveled up.

The estimated base salary range for new hires into this role is $200,000-$230,000.00 annually + commission depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and location. We also offer a competitive benefits package, including 401(k) match, medical, dental and vision insurance; life and disability insurance; generous paid time off including vacation, sick leave, floating and fixed holidays, maternity and bonding leave; EAP, other wellbeing resources; and much more.

Xometry is looking for a Staff Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team. This is a senior individual contributor role with broad technical scope and high organizational impact. • Build for scale – Architect and optimize reliable batch and streaming data pipelines, data models, and platforms that handle Xometry’s complex, high-volume data, including the real-time and event-driven flows that the partner integration depends on.
  • Own the full lifecycle – Take end-to-end accountability for data engineering work from acquisition and transformation through to delivery, observability, and ongoing performance.
  • Set the standard – Define and enforce best practices for data modeling, CI/CD, testing, and code quality across the data engineering function, including the contract-testing and schema-evolution discipline required when data crosses a partner boundary.
  • Solve ambiguous problems – Navigate complex, cross-domain technical challenges, evaluate variable factors, and deliver solutions that meet both business and technical objectives.
  • Develop multi-quarter roadmaps – Translate strategic priorities into concrete technical plans, working independently to determine methods and timelines.
  • Collaborate broadly – Partner with engineers, product managers, data scientists, business stakeholders, and partner partner engineering teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Mentor and elevate – Guide other engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical mentorship, raising the overall capability of the team.
  • Evaluate and adopt – Stay current with the data engineering ecosystem and make informed recommendations on tools, platforms, and architectural patterns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (or equivalent experience) plus at least 5 years of experience in a data engineering related role, with demonstrated ownership of complex, large-scale data systems.
  • Deep expertise with cloud data warehouses – Snowflake strongly preferred – including optimization, best practices, and performance tuning.
  • Expert-level SQL and strong Python proficiency; comfort picking up additional languages as needed.
  • Hands-on experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets using modern tooling (dbt, Airbyte, Airflow, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience planning and implementing enterprise data architecture across multiple systems and domains, including integrations that cross organizational or partner boundaries.
  • Working knowledge of queueing, batch and stream processing (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Kinesis), and highly scalable data stores (e.g., Apache Iceberg).
  • Experience writing database-heavy services or APIs and designing for testability and maintainability.
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD principles and demonstrated experience with automated testing, contract testing, and schema-evolution discipline in data pipelines.
  • Strong grasp of the AWS data ecosystem and cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Ability to operate independently on new and ambiguous assignments, determine methods and procedures, and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization — including with external partner engineering teams.
  • Enterprise / partner integration experience – Prior work integrating with PLM, ERP, or large enterprise SaaS systems; partner Teamcenter experience (data model, BMIDE, Active Workspace APIs, AWC integrations) or comparable PLM exposure is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Streamlit).
  • Experience with data governance, data quality frameworks, and observability tooling — especially in contexts where data flows across partner or tenant boundaries.
  • Exposure to modern lakehouse or data mesh architectural patterns.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) frameworks (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with event-driven architecture, CDC pipelines, and low-latency operational data flows that feed back into a customer-facing UI.
  • Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or marketplace environments is a plus — but curiosity and drive matter more.

The estimated base salary range for new hires into this role is $180,000-$200,000.00 annually + commission depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and location. We also offer a competitive benefits package, including 401(k) match, medical, dental and vision insurance; life and disability insurance; generous paid time off including vacation, sick leave, floating and fixed holidays, maternity and bonding leave; EAP, other wellbeing resources; and much more.

Engineer Principal Software Engineer Data Infrastructure at HubSpot

Principal Engineer designs and builds foundational data infrastructure systems (HBase, Kafka, Elasticsearch, etc.) while defining architectural direction for database platforms serving product teams.

Lead Posted 1 day ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About the Team

HubSpot’s Data Infrastructure team builds the shared data store platforms that power the company’s products and internal systems at scale. The team’s mission is to provide a unified data platform and deliver databases as a service in a way that makes it easy, performant, and reliable for engineers across HubSpot to build on top of it.

This team owns and evolves some of the most critical foundational systems inside HubSpot, including HBase, Kafka, Elasticsearch, MySQL/Vitess, Hadoop, Iceberg, and Qdrant, along with the platform capabilities, abstractions, and workflows that make those systems usable by product teams.

The scope spans big data, SQL and storage infrastructure, batch processing, stream processing, and search. This is not a team focused on simply administering existing systems. It is an engineering organization responsible for shaping how HubSpot builds on top of its data stores over the long term.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer to help shape the technical future of Data Infrastructure at HubSpot.

This is a deeply hands-on role for a builder who wants to own the architecture and evolution of the foundational data systems behind HubSpot’s products. As a Principal Engineer, you will help define how our data stores should scale, how developers should interact with them, and what platform patterns we should create so teams across HubSpot can build faster on top of reliable, high-leverage infrastructure.

At HubSpot, Principal Engineers are expected to stay close to the code, lead high-impact initiatives end-to-end, and influence technical direction well beyond a single team. This role is for someone who can move between storage engines, developer-facing platform design, and large-scale architectural bets while remaining a hands-on builder throughout.

Key Expectations

Own the future of HubSpot’s data stores

  • Shape the technical direction for the data platforms that underpin HubSpot’s products, with a focus on the data stores themselves and the systems around them.
  • Drive architectural decisions across storage, access patterns, scaling models, tenancy, performance, and developer ergonomics.
  • Help define what the next generation of HubSpot’s database platform should look like, not just how to operate the current one.

Be a deeply hands-on, high-leverage builder

  • Write production code regularly and lead complex initiatives from idea to rollout.
  • Build internal frameworks, APIs, and platform capabilities that make HubSpot’s data stores easier to adopt, extend, and evolve.
  • Turn ambiguous infrastructure problems into simple, scalable systems and clear technical direction.

Lead platform architecture across multiple domains

  • Work across big data, SQL/Vitess, batch, stream processing, and search to establish consistent platform patterns where they matter and domain-specific depth where they do not.
  • Define reusable abstractions for data storage, ingestion, processing, and access that reduce fragmentation across the engineering organization.
  • Push for simplicity, clarity, and extensibility in systems that can easily become overly bespoke or operationally heavy.

Influence across the broader engineering org

  • Partner with engineering and product leaders to align infrastructure direction with what HubSpot needs to build next.
  • Work horizontally across teams to guide technical tradeoffs, unblock difficult decisions, and raise the architectural bar for platform work.
  • Act as a multiplier through design reviews, technical mentoring, and principled decision-making on the most important systems in the space.

What You Bring

  • Deep experience building and evolving large-scale distributed systems, especially storage systems, data infrastructure, or foundational backend platforms.
  • Strong architectural instincts with a bias toward simplicity, consistency, clear boundaries, and long-term platform leverage.
  • A track record of owning and delivering complex, cross-team technical initiatives with product-line or company-level impact.
  • Comfort working across multiple layers of the stack, from storage engines and data flows to APIs, internal frameworks, and developer experience.
  • A hands-on mindset. You lead by building, debugging, reviewing, and shipping, not by staying removed from the systems you influence.
  • The ability to move into unfamiliar technical territory quickly, form strong opinions grounded in first principles, and help teams make better long-term decisions.

Why this role matters

HubSpot’s future depends on data platforms that are not only reliable, but also powerful building blocks for product innovation. The Principal Software Engineer in Data Infrastructure will help determine how those building blocks are designed, how they scale, and how engineers across HubSpot use them to create the next generation of our products.

Engineer Principal Front-End Engineer Web Platform at Canva

Principal front-end engineer leads web platform architecture and performance optimization for Canva's browser-based product, focusing on server-side rendering and modern React patterns.

Lead Hybrid Posted 3 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Job Description

Join the team powering the foundation of Canva’s world-class user experience.

Hey, g’day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time-consuming, and you’re probably keen to find out what’s on offer, so we’ll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work:

Our flagship Sydney campus is uniquely Canva - an extension of our Surry Hills neighbourhood. It’s a thoughtfully designed space with plenty of room to collaborate, focus, and connect.

This role is based in Sydney, and we’re looking for someone who calls it home. Our hybrid way of working gives you the flexibility to work remotely, and to come together on campus for meaningful in-person collaboration and connection when it matters most. We trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role:

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

Web Platform owns how Canva loads, renders, and runs in the browser. Every product team at Canva builds on top of what this group ships. Every user who opens canva.com sees the work of this team in the first few hundred milliseconds of their experience. Our ambition is to load the first page in under two seconds, and we’re not there yet. Getting there is one of the most interesting frontend engineering problems in the company.

The strategic bet is rebuilding how the web product is served. Server-side rendering. React Server Components. Reducing round trips between the client and the backend. A modern offline strategy that loads a minimal editor when the network drops. The kind of frontend architecture that takes a mature, complex product and makes it feel instant on every device a user might pick up.

There’s a second reason this work matters now. As Canva scales toward a billion monthly active users, performance becomes a defining property of the product. The architecture decisions made in this role will outlast most of the systems built on top of them.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Owning the technical direction for the web platform: Set the architecture for SSR, React Server Components, and the shape of how pages get assembled and served. Define what good looks like and bring the rest of the frontend specialty with you.

  • Performance at Canva scale: Drive the path to sub-two-second first page load. Build the measurement, the observability, and the engineering discipline that makes performance a property of the platform, not a quarterly project.

  • Influencing the broader frontend specialty: This work touches every frontend engineer at Canva. You’ll be defining the patterns the frontend specialty adopts, authoring design documents, working prototypes and migration guides that make the new architecture the obvious default. You’ll work across product orgs to shape how teams organically transition to modern frontend practices, with the credibility to bring people along rather than mandating change.

  • Leading with code, not whiteboards: Canva doesn’t have an architecture function — Principal engineers stay hands-on. You won’t ship every line, but you’ll live in the code and push commits.

  • Owning the offline and resilience story: What happens when the network drops, the device is slow, or the user is on the other side of the world. Define how the product responds gracefully across the full range of real conditions.

  • Sparring with strong peers: You’ll join a small group of Principal and Staff engineers shaping how Canva’s frontend works. The bar is high. The work compounds.

  • Influential Individual Contributor: No direct reports. But every Staff engineer in Web Platform routes their architectural decisions through you. How you operate sets the standard others reach for.

  • What success looks like. First page load times reach the bar across every device and every geography users open Canva from. Performance is a property of the platform that holds even as the product grows, not a number we chase in quarterly cycles. The patterns set by this role are adopted across the frontend specialty as the default way to build.

You’re probably a match

We’d love to hear from you if you fit one or more of these. You don’t need to meet all of them, but the more the better — and if you join the team, we’re invested in helping you grow.

  • React at depth: Not just a user of React, you understand how React is built. Reconciliation, rendering, the server component model, the hooks model. You’ve shaped React decisions at scale, ideally with open-source contributions or production work that pushed the framework’s limits.

  • Performance at scale: Driven measurable performance gains on a complex, mature web product. You know how to measure what matters and how to filter the noise. Bonus if you’ve shipped server-side rendering or React Server Components in production.

  • Principal altitude: You’ve owned problems where the right answer didn’t exist when you started. You found it through prototyping and measurement, not a design doc written upfront.

  • Org-wide influence: You’ve shipped something foundational on a mature product - a bundler migration, an SSR rollout, a rendering model shift - without disrupting the teams building on top of the platform. You cut through the noise and bring a large number of leaders to consensus on a clear and compelling technical direction.

  • Active individual contribution: You’re still writing and committing code on a day-to-day basis.

  • AI fluency: Used agentic orchestration in real work. Have a view on what changes for frontend engineering when AI is a daily part of the workflow.

Technical knowledge

  • React internals: Reconciliation, the rendering model, server components, suspense

  • TypeScript depth: Production-grade fluency, not surface familiarity

  • SSR and RSC: Server-side rendering and React Server Components in production

  • Frontend-backend communication: How pages get served, how requests get batched, where the round trips live

  • Performance measurement: Real User Monitoring, synthetic testing, the metrics that matter

  • Offline resilience: Progressive enhancement strategies for complex web applications

  • Deep fundamentals: Engineering fundamentals from a CS background, including data structures, complexity, the hard parts

Nice to have

  • Open-source contributions: React, Next.js, or the broader frontend ecosystem

  • Live migrations: Experience evolving a complex frontend product without disrupting the teams building on top of it

  • Edge runtimes: Cloudflare Workers, Fastly, or equivalent

  • Backend partnership: Cross-functional work with backend platform teams on the request/response contract

About the Group

This role sits in the Client Platform Group, where our mission is to ensure a delightful experience for every user on every device. Client Platform owns the foundations that every product team builds on, including Web Platform, Mobile Platform, and the user-facing surfaces of the product. Hundreds of millions of users sit on top of what this group ships. Every Canva product runs on it.

What’s in it for you?

Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard — and we do — but you’ll also enjoy moments of magic, connection, and fun throughout life at Canva. We offer:

  • Equity packages — we want our success to be yours too
  • Inclusive parental leave policies supporting all parents & carers

Engineer LawnStarter: Staff Software Engineer, Product

Staff Software Engineer directs AI coding agents to implement features across the full product lifecycle while owning technical decisions and shipping to production.

What this role involves

Headquarters: SĂŁo Paulo, Brazil
URL: http://lawnstarter.com

About LawnStarter

LawnStarter is the nation's leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and outdoor services, with over $100M in annual bookings. We're expanding beyond lawn care to become the one-stop shop for all home services — operating across three brands (LawnStarter, Lawn Love, Home Gnome) on a single shared platform.

About Engineering at LawnStarter

We build in small, focused initiative teams: a Product Engineer working alongside a PM and a designer, supported by an Engineering Manager who helps you grow. You'll also work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering peers across initiatives in a shared codebase. The whole team owns whether the work moves its metric.

AI coding agents are a force multiplier here — they give a small, senior team the leverage to ship more, faster, and at a higher bar for quality. We hire engineers who are wired for ownership and energized by shipping to a real marketplace with customers and pros on both sides.

The Role

You're the engineering anchor of an initiative — working as part of a tight team with your PM and designer, and alongside engineering peers on adjacent initiatives. You have a hand in the full lifecycle: shaping the problem, deciding the technical approach, directing AI agents to implement much of the code, shipping to production, and — with your team — owning the outcome.

You're measured by impact, not by lines of code merged. When an agent can ship something safely, your job is to make sure it's done right and the metric moves. When the work calls for careful, hand-written code in a sensitive area, you write it yourself.

What makes this role exciting:

  • You ship end-to-end. From problem-framing through production to the post-launch metric review — you see the whole arc and own the result with your team.
  • You work as a true product partner. You sit at the table with PM and design, bringing engineering judgment to product calls and product sense to engineering calls.
  • You get real autonomy — with the right checkpoints. You make most technical calls yourself, with architect review on significant architectural decisions and fast input from peers.
  • You operate at a staff bar. You're trusted to make the call, ship the hard thing, and stand behind the outcome.

What You'll Own

  • The technical approach — architecture, data model, integration choices, rollout plan, observability, and rollback strategy for your initiative. You make most calls yourself and bring significant architectural decisions to architect review; you document them, and revisit if the data says you were wrong.
  • Implementation quality — the prompts, guardrails, evals, tests, and review loop that let agents ship safe, correct, production-ready code. Most lines will be agent-authored, and you're accountable for them — held to the same standard as the rest of the team working in a shared codebase.
  • Cross-functional partnership — daily working contact with your PM (scope, tradeoffs) and designer (UX decisions, in-tool prototyping), regular collaboration with engineering peers, and weekly check-ins with your EM.
  • The initiative outcome — the metric the initiative was set up to move. With your PM, you present results 2-4 weeks post-launch and share the "did it work" answer.
  • A high bar for what ships — production correctness, security, performance, observability, and the experience for customers and pros. Agents accelerate you; they don't lower the bar.

Problems to Solve

Leading AI agents at a staff-level quality bar Most of the code on your initiative will be authored by AI agents. The craft is making them ship as if a senior engineer wrote it: prompts that encode our conventions, evals that catch issues before merge, tests that exercise the edges, observability that catches a regression before a customer does. How do you build a workflow that lets a small team ship far more than its size would suggest?

Owning decisions with high autonomy You have real latitude to make and document technical calls quickly — with architect review on the big architectural ones and peers to pressure-test your thinking. How do you move fast, keep your team aligned, and stay accountable to the outcome?

Shipping outcomes, not features Each initiative is measured by a metric — a conversion rate, a retention curve, a pro-funnel KPI, a unit-economics shift. You're accountable for the number alongside your team. How do you scope to actually move it, decide what *not* to build, and have the discipline to follow up 2-4 weeks after launch?

What Success Looks Like (Year 1)

  • Initiative outcomes hit — You've shipped 3-4 initiatives end-to-end, and at least two clearly moved their metric (with the post-launch review to prove it).
  • Agent workflow that travels — The prompts, evals, and review loop you built are picked up by peers on other initiatives.
  • Faster cycle time — Median time from problem-framing to first production rollout on your initiatives is meaningfully shorter.
  • Quality holds — No customer- or pro-facing regression traceable to agent-authored code that slipped through your review.
  • Visible leverage — Peers point to artifacts you left behind — runbooks, evals, agent workflows, post-launch write-ups — as references they use.

Requirements

Who You Are

  • AI-native. Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or equivalent are how you ship today — daily, on production work. You have real opinions about prompts, evals, agent loops, and review workflows, and you know when to let the agent run versus write it yourself.
  • Operating at a lead level. Whatever your current title, you've been the person making the call, shipping the hard thing, and standing behind whether it worked.
  • Outcome-driven. You measure your week in "did the metric move" and "did the experience get better." You read the post-launch dashboard and own the answer.
  • A strong horizontal partner. You hold your own with a strong PM and designer, and you collaborate well with engineering peers in a shared codebase. You bring engineering judgment to product calls and product judgment to engineering calls.
  • Decisive and documented. You make architecture, data-model, and rollout calls, write them down, get fast input, and move.
  • A force multiplier. Your impact compounds beyond your own initiative because you leave reusable artifacts behind — agent workflows, evals, runbooks, post-launch reviews.
  • Customer- and pro-minded. This is a real marketplace with real people on both sides, and you care about the outcomes for both.

Good to Know

  • An individual-contributor role with room to grow. People management sits with the EM — but the path into management is an open door for those who want it.
  • A product-engineering role, end-to-end. You ship features that move metrics; platform and architecture work happen inside the initiative when the outcome needs them.
  • Hands-on, with a high quality bar. Agents handle much of the implementation; you bring the judgment, design, safety, and accountability. The bar is high.
  • Shipping to a live marketplace. With $100M+ in bookings, customers and pros use what you ship within the same week.

Tech You'll Touch

  • AI agents — Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, internal agent stack, MCP servers, evals tooling
  • Backend — PHP/Laravel
  • Frontend — TypeScript/React/React Native (customer & pro apps, web and mobile)
  • Data — Redshift, dbt, Segment, Airflow
  • Infra — AWS, Datadog, Sentry, GitHub Actions
  • Documentation & process — Brain (Claude Code skills + docs repo), Confluence, Jira

You don't need every box checked. You need deep skill in at least one of our stacks plus credible production experience with AI coding agents.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary of USD $80,000-$100,000 annual base
  • Work from anywhere
  • High ownership and autonomy
  • Fast-moving team that loves to build, learn, and grow
